Elevated Powder Room Design with Realstone’s Tempered Jade Accent Wall
Interior designer Jody Salters, principal of Nimbus 9 Interior Design, recently took on the challenge of transforming the interiors of a newly built home to better reflect the style and personality of its owners. The design plan encompassed the entire first floor—including reimagining the powder room as a bold, statement-making space. For the feature wall, Salters chose Tempered Jade from the Realstone Systems Tempered Collection, a high-impact surface solution that blends natural stone with elevated finishes and rich color.
To update the home’s interiors, Salters collaborated with Sam Broerman and Tony Accurso of Crapsey & Gilles Contractors. Their renovation efforts included everything from reconfiguring the kitchen and family room layout to updating paint, trim, carpeting, and furnishings throughout the primary suite. The overall design vision was to move away from the original open plan and create more intimate, personalized spaces.
“Our main goal was to create smaller, more intimate spaces in what was a very open floor plan,” the homeowner says. “Plus, the house was a bit dark. We wanted it to feel lighter and brighter.”
Salters immediately began sketching new floor plans and identifying materials that would help reflect the homeowners’ style. “Ideas started pouring in immediately. I had a vision for the spaces and quickly began drawing floor plans,” she said.
Although the home was relatively new, Salters felt the original interiors didn’t capture the energy of the owners. “When I’m designing, I focus on truly understanding my clients so I can create spaces that reflect who they are and how they live. I pay close attention to their personality, lifestyle, and the feeling they want their home to evoke. It’s part intuition, part collaboration,” she said. “These clients are modern, stylish, and full of energy, and I knew their house had the potential to reflect that.”
